"Tell me where it hurts"

Welcome to the web site of the Pain Clinic of Shelby.

Dr. Steven Brockman started practicing anesthesia and pain management in the Shelby area in 1989. In 2002 he decided to start a new practice devoted solely to the management of pain. In August of 2002 the practice opened its doors in a temporary facility. In January of 2003 construction of the new clinic was completed and patients started being seen there. The clinic building was designed keeping in mind that the comfort and needs of the patients are of primary importance.

The acute and chronic pain syndromes that are treated at the Pain Clinic of Shelby include:

Low Back Pain
Neck Pain
Cancer Pain
Shingles (Herpes Zoster)
Sympathetic Dystrophies
Headaches and Migraines
Scar Pain
Myofascial Pain

All patients see Dr. Brockman to discuss their pain history. He will personally perform an appropriate physical exam to evaluate their pain. Records of past evaluation and treatment of the problem will be obtained and reviewed as needed.
Patients will see only Dr. Brockman. There are no other providers practicing at the clinic.
Treatment options that are offered will depend on the problem. Treatment can include medication management and injection therapy, including epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, trigger point injections and also joint injections. X-rays are used to guide injections when indicated. Patients may be referred to physical therapy, and may be referred for surgical opinions if Dr. Brockman believes that there might be a problem that could benefit from a surgical intervention.
